Food and Feed Additives
In the field of food, tannic acid and gallic acid series products are important food processing aids: as a clarifying agent, they can remove suspended substances such as protein in turbid state and are used in the production of low-alcohol wine and fruit wine (such as beer, wine, etc.); As an astringency agent, crude oil deodorant is used in the processing of flavors, spices, oils (edible oil), etc.
Plant-extracted hydrolyzed tannic acid series products can be used as feed additives in livestock and poultry diets. Animal nutrition studies have found that the addition of appropriate amounts of tannin in the diet can improve the absorption of nutrients, enhance immunity, reduce diarrhea rate, increase rumen bypass protein content, reduce methane emissions and improve nitrogen utilization.
In the pig breeding industry, the astringent function of tannin can reduce the moisture content in feces by astringing the animal intestine, promoting the digestion and absorption of nutrients, and has a good effect on the treatment of piglet diarrhea; and tannin can also control the number of pathogenic bacteria in the animal intestine by inhibiting the enzyme secreted by microorganisms, thereby reducing the diarrhea rate of piglets.
In the poultry industry, studies have shown that the addition of tannic acid in the diet of broilers can significantly improve the intestinal flora of broilers, proliferate beneficial bacteria, inhibit harmful bacteria, and reduce the emission of ammonia in the feces, so as to improve the intestinal health and feeding environment of broilers.
In the ruminant breeding industry, feeding leguminous forage containing tannins can improve the growth performance of beef cattle, increase the average daily gain and feed digestibility of beef cattle, reduce methane emissions, and at the end of each grazing season, the content of saturated fatty acids and 3-6 fatty acids in cattle is higher than that of cattle fed forage.
Hydrolyzed tannins extracted from plants have the functions of antibacterial, killing viruses, enhancing immunity, improving animal intestinal health and improving animal growth performance, and can be used as a plant feed additive for pigs, cattle, sheep, chickens and other animals. Tannins have the advantages and characteristics of wide source, pure natural and pollution-free, and play an important role in improving the production performance of livestock and poultry.
