Gallnut chinensis achieves industrialization leap

Author:

Gallnuts hung on the branches like bells, with dense aphids faintly visible. "After this little bell matures, it becomes a gallstone," said Chen Chiqing, the chairman of the company. Gallstones are formed by stimulating host plants with aphids.

Galla chinensis is rich in tannic acid and is an important forest resource in China. It is widely used in industries such as medicine, chemical industry, mining, electronics, cosmetics, food, and feed. Wufeng is the main production area of Chinese gallnuts in China. Chicheng Biotechnology was founded in 2004 and its tannin products produced from gallnuts are exported to Europe and America.

In the company's laboratory, there are layers of kraft paper bags about 5 centimeters long. Chen Chiqing carefully took out a paper bag and unfolded it, which was densely covered with black aphid species.
